Marvel Two-In-One #2

The Richards family from the Fantastic Four is gone after the events in Secret Wars. Left behind are the two remaining team members, Johnny Storm, Human Torch, and Ben Grimm, The Thing. Ben has found a message from Reed saying that he left him a device so he and Johnny can explore the multiverse. The kicker, he left it at the site of their first mission. So, naturally, they go to monster island, the site of the first Fantastic Four adventure. But, they find nothing. Then, Ben Grimm has a thought of another first mission, the unofficial first mission he shared with Reed Richards.

Panel of the Week

It is revealed that while back in college, Reed and Dr. Doom both were in the same science competition. When Doom won, Reed and Ben went and messed with his trophy, changing Doom to “Doof.” They considered this their first “mission” and no matter how bad things got when battling Dr. Doom in the future, they could always smirk to one another that they messed with Doom in this way. It’s a fantastic, personal note for their friendship and for this reason, it wins this week’s title as Panel of the Week.
