Avengers (2016) #11 coverAvengers (2016) #11

Publisher: Marvel Comics
Writer: Mark Waid
Art: Mike Del Mundo, Alex Ross
Cover Price: $3.99

Solicit: Not every Avenger came out of the Secret Empire’s regime the same as going in. One of Earth’s Mightiest, in particular, will either step up to lead the team — or retire altogether!

Randy: I like this line-up of Avengers, and it will be interesting to see how they fair in the aftermath of Secret Empire.

Black Hammer #13 coverBlack Hammer #13

Publisher: Dark Horse Comics
Writer: Jeff Lemire
Artist: Dean Ormston, Dave Stewart
Cover Price: $3.99

Solicit: It was the greatest superhero event of all time, a multiversal crisis. For ten years, the former heroes have been living in exile. But a new arrival from the main timeline brought new hope. And maybe, finally, its time for them to relaunch.

Phil: Easily one of the best books out there. Also a good “superhero” book for those non-superhero fans who’d be willing to dip their foot in the pool for a worthy exception.

Generation Gone #3 coverGeneration Gone #3

Publisher: Image Comics
Writer: Ales Kot, André Lima Araújo
Art: André Lima Araújo, Chris O’Halloran
Cover Price: $2.99

Solicit: Breaking point.

Phil: This will most likely end up on my Best of 2017 list somewhere. A unique concept mixed with exciting art. Too bad it’s a mini.

Jean Grey (2017) #7 coverJean Grey #7

Publisher: Marvel Comics
Writer: Dennis Hopeless
Art: Alberto Jimenez Alburquerque, David Yardin
Cover Price: $3.99

Solicit: Traveling the Marvel Universe preparing herself for her inevitable encounter with the Phoenix force, Jean Grey has learned how to fight from the likes of Namor, Thor and Psylocke. But now she wants to know more about her opponent than the best way to punch it. She wants to know what makes it tick. She wants to know what it’s made of. And to learn that, she’ll go to one of the few women who’ve harnessed its power: Wanda Maximoff!

Randy: Jean Grey continues her journey through the Marvel U to pick up more tips on how to defeat the Phoenix, this time with the Scarlet Witch!

Spider-Men II #3 coverSpider-Men II #3

Publisher: Marvel Comics
Writer: Brian Michael Bendis
Art: Sara Pichelli
Cover Price: $3.99

Solicit: Meeting the Miles Morales who was already in the Marvel Universe sets OUR Miles off! As if he weren’t struggling with interior conflicts that were tougher than the external conflicts, this revelation hits Miles hard. Luckily, Peter Parker, an expert on personal tragedy and dark spots, is by his side!

Ruben: Finding the other Miles Morales has thrown our Spider-Men for a loop. Its weird that we are still kinda feeling some of the effects of secret wars but im curious to see where this goes.

X-Men Gold #12 coverX-Men Gold #12

Publisher: Marvel Comics
Writer: Marc Guggenheim
Art: Luke Ross, Ken Lashley
Cover Price: $3.99

Ruben: We finally get to figure out what the deal is with Kleevus/Kologoth the alien that the X-Men have been keeping in their mansion.
