The Beautiful Death #2

The Beautiful Death #2 coverPublisher: Titan Comics
Writer: Mathieu Bablet
Art: Mathieu Bablet
Cover Price: $3.99

Solicit: The apocalypse has been and gone. The age of humanity is at an end. Horrifying insectile aliens from the depths of infinite space are now masters of the earth! What does resistance mean, when there’s nothing left to fight for? That’s what Wayne, Jeremiah and Scham, the only survivors of the devastating invasion, struggle with day after day – seeking a new purpose, a glimpse of a worthwhile future, to justify their futile presence in a ruined world as they pick through the remains of human civilization, keeping out of reach of the bugs, none of them suspect that they are part of a much larger plan, one that involves another, unknown survivor.

Jason: Insect apocalypse and humanity just ends. The series began last issue in the midst of the on-going story of three individuals. It is their survival that pulls the reader in, and allows us to honestly explore what it would mean to be human, or what possible survival of humanity might exist in the event of such a cataclysmic event. It is strange how easy it is to relate these characters in such an unrelatable situation. I am extremely looking forward to see what occurs in this next issue.

Black Crown Quarterly #1

Black Crown Quarterly #1 coverPublisher: IDW
Writer: Various
Art: Various
Cover Price: $6.99

Solicit: Everything you always wanted once a season is packed within these 48 pages including a two-sided pullout poster and a wraparound cover! Delight in regular continuing features like legit publications with literary pedigrees!

Phil: Hot on the heels of the much-talked about Kid Lobotomy comes the 2nd title from the Black Crown imprint. This one’s an anthology with some promising looking stories. Even comes with a pull-out poster!

Image + (2017) #3

Image + (2017) #3 coverPublisher: Image Comics
Writer: Various
Art: Various
Cover Price: $1.99 (or Free with Previews [below])

Solicit: Volume two of the Diamond Gem Award-winning comics magazine IMAGE+ continues with all the hard-hitting content you love. This issue features another 80 pages of interviews, previews, and in-depth features, plus exclusive comics content.

Jason: Image+ continues to provide all the news about its publisher, and the publishing world it is published in. It also serves as a springboard for many great stories. Currently, Atomahawk, and part 3 of Wytches: The Bad Egg rank high on the list. The latter has not been what I was expecting at all. I am not a fan of horror comics. However, I did enjoy the plot twist from part two, and look forward to what comes next. I am also intrigued as to which 6 new series are being announced in this issue.
