Tomorrow’s Top Comics
To kick things off, more than one of us this week are looking forward to…
Port of Earth #1
Solicit: Imagine if aliens came to Earth not in war or peace, but with a business deal: open up a spaceport here on Earth in exchange for advanced technology. But when our alien visitors break Port restrictions and wreak havoc in our cities, it falls to the newly formed Earth Security Agents to hunt down and safely deport the dangerous rogue aliens back to the Port of Earth
Alec: A new Image #1? Yes, please. They have a great track record and the premise of this title seems awesome. Aliens have arrived on Earth and they lease some space from us to use as a spaceport, plus the consequences that come from that.
Phil: I resisted this on my Previews order, but have read good things since, so I’ll be checking it out. Could be fun, and it’s been a few months since I’ve tried a new #1 from Image.
We’re also looking forward to these new comics:
Solicit: The Cold House has been opened, and the connection between the Injection and the Other World is open. And that may not be the worst thing in Brigid Roth’s life tonight. End of Vol. 3.
Phil: Another slow burning Warren Ellis title that just grows and grows. I got caught up on this a few months back and am thoroughly engrossed! Also – a perfect fit for Declan Shalvey and Jordie Bellaire on art chores! Get the trades!
Jessica Jones (2016) #14
Solicit: Killgrave is back. He has baby Danielle Cage. Dear God.
Ruben: Kilgrave is back and he’s got a hold of baby Danielle, nothing could have raised the stakes so fast and so suddenly. The writing for Jessica Jones has been some of my favorite lately though I’m still not a huge fan of the art style.
Moon Knight (2017) #188
Solicit: A new day is dawning and with it comes an enemy unlike any that Marc Spector, Moon Knight, has ever faced. Moon Knight has always been a protector from the shadows, but this new enemy is looking to extinguish that shadow with blinding light and fire. Get ready for the introduction of Moon Knight’s greatest nemesis!
Ruben: The past few runs of Moon Knight have been fantastic, I’m really hoping the trend continues with this new creative team. The preview art I’ve seen already has me excited!
She-Hulk (2017) #159
Solicit: The Leader is back and he’s using his gamma-enhanced super-intelligence to strike at She-Hulk! But how do you hurt an almost indestructible She-Hulk? By turning Jen against Herself!
Alec: Jen Walters gets her Marvel Legacy relaunch/renumbering. Her post-Civil War II series was a fantastic look at the effects of PTSD with the twist of super-heroics. Can’t wait to see how this series pushing forward into the Legacy era.
Spirits of Vengeance (2017) #2
Solicit: Someone’s unearthed a weapon that can the tip scales in the war between Heaven and Hell… And an ancient summit known as the Covenant is the perfect place to use it! Johnny Blaze, the Ghost Rider, joins forces with Blade, Satana and Hellstorm to unravel the plot against God himself. The supernatural corners of the Marvel U will never be the same again!
Randy: I really like the direction this book is heading and enjoy the new take on Hellstrom, he reminds me of a marvel version of Constantine.
X-Men: Gold (2017) #15
Solicit: Lights! Camera! Action! MOJO continues his takeover of Manhattan, broadcasting every battle and tragic loss as Kitty Pryde and her X-Men struggle to overcome obstacle after obstacle… until it becomes clear that the only option left is to take the fight to MojoWorld.
Randy: Part 5 of Mojo Worldwide, this has been my favorite story-line in quite awhile from the X-Men. Its an homage to all of their great battles while they fight Mojo and all of his mechanations.
