0

New comic books hit store shelves every Wednesday morning. That’s why we’re here – the day before – with our picks for Tomorrow’s Top Comics!

Each week, Read a Comic Crew members assemble to highlight the comics we’re most looking forward to in our pull bins. See our favorites for Wednesday, Oct 11, 2017 after the fold.*

To kick things off, more than one of us this week are looking forward to…

Defenders (2017) #6

Defenders (2017) #6 coverPublisher: Marvel Comics
Writer:
Brian Michael Bendis
Art:
David Marquez
Cover Price:
$3.99

Solicit: As tensions heat up, tensions caused by the power vacuum left by Wilson Fisk’s ascendancy explode in an all-out war for control of the New York underworld—with the Defenders left to protect the people and pick up the pieces! So what could make things even worse for our team of harried heroes? Would you believe – Deadpool?

Randy: Starting off a new story arc of “Kingpins of New York,” Deadpool shows up to cause some trouble.

Ruben: After the end of the last issue I need to know what’s gonna happen next. This series so far has been everything I wanted from it.

We’re also looking forward to these new comics:

Mister Miracle (2017) #3

Mister Miracle (2017) #3 coverPublisher: DC Comics
Writer:
Tom King
Art:
Mitch Gerads, Nick Derington
Cover Price:
$3.99

Solicit: The insanity of war is the insanity of Mister Miracle. Darkseid and Orion’s forces clash violently on the battlefields of New Genesis. Stained with blood and glory, the New Gods fight on. As they move closer to victory, Scott and Barda begin to see that every step forward leads them into a deadly trap. Where do you run when the path ahead is your enemy’s triumph and the path behind is your family’s defeat?

Phil: Tom Kin’s doing it again for DC. A fun and twisted tale I look forward to reading a 2nd time once they’re all out.

Ms. Marvel (2015) #23

Ms. Marvel (2015) #23 coverPublisher: Marvel Comics
Writer:
G. Willow Wilson
Art:
Diego Olortegui, Valerio Schiti
Cover Price:
$3.99

Solicit: Shouldering the burden of saving Jersey City has felt especially heavy for Kamala Khan since her falling out with her lifelong best friend and pseudo sidekick, Bruno. Still, J.C. has always been her turf, so when a new hero moves into J.C., Kamala’s left conflicted until she learns that her new colleague is in fact a friend.

Ruben: It’s the start of a new story arc that has Ms. Marvel trying to share her city with a new hero. The last arc was amazing and I have high hopes for this next one.

Wormwood: Gentleman Corpse: Mr. Wormwood Goes To Washington #1

Wormwood Gentleman Corpse Mr. Wormwood Goes To Washington #1 coverPublisher: IDW Publishing
Writer:
Ben Templesmith
Art:
Ben Templesmith
Cover Price:

Solicit: Wormwood has been gone for some time. Too long, if you ask his old friends. They’re determined to track him down, no matter what dimension he’s buggered off to. You see, a special agent from the U.S. government has asked for Wormwood’s help, and things are about to get political.

Phil: I’m coming in new to this based on all the recommendations from The Crew. Can’t go wrong with Templesmith though.

X-Men: Blue #13

X-Men Blue #13 coverPublisher: Marvel Comics
Writer:
Cullen Bunn
Art:
Jorge Molina, Arthur Adams

$3.99

Solicit: Continuing events set into motion in X-Men Gold #13, this issue finds our teams up against the past itself! With Sentinels and Brood and Bad Memories attacking at every opportunity, will Kitty and Jean and their teams being able to save Manhattan? Or is this the trick that finally boosts Mojo’s ratings?

Randy: After reading part one in X-Men: Gold, I am anxious to continue the story of Mojo vs The X-Men.
